The PRES - UMSF is managed by a President elected by the Board of governors, for non-renewable period of 2 years.
The President manages the establishment under the guidance of the governing board.

The Governing board is made up of 36 directors (Art 6 of the Decree of Creation) subdivided into:
> 5 University representatives from each of the three universities, making 15 directors in total.
> 3 qualified key figures appointed by each of the universities.
> 1 representative per associate member, making 12 representatives in total.
> 2 faculty member and researcher elected representatives - practicing their functions/officiating within the PRES-UMSF
> 2 other staffs representatives officiating within the PRES-UMSF
> 2 student - representatives - following doctoral training and registered in one of the founding universities. 

The board of founders defines the institution policy.
